What is BMI

BMI (Body Mass Index) is an indicator used to measure the degree of obesity in the human body. It determines whether a person is within a healthy weight range based on the ratio of weight to height.

BMI cannot accurately reflect the proportion of muscle mass and fat, so some fitness enthusiasts may have a higher BMI, but this does not mean they have excessive body fat;

Role of BMI

  1. Assess health risks: BMI can help estimate the health risks a person faces due to underweight, overweight, or obesity, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, etc.
  2. High universality: BMI is applicable to most adults, unaffected by gender and age, and widely used in health checks and weight management.
